“Drive” is about unexpected encounters and the inspiration we can derive from them. On two separate trips while traveling down Highway 61 through the American South, I came upon a three-legged dog and a man of intense determination. I knew I would eventually find a way to create a poem from these experiences, and then a short film seemed necessary. After shooting the video over time and miles, I discovered an antique typewriter which I pictured as essential in my early intentions for the visual elements. I then assembled everything in After Effects, Flash, and Adobe Media Encoder. The video was shot with a Panasonic camcorder. The music was a loop from Apple's Garage Band, and my voice was recorded using an Zoom H2 digital microphone.
